| 2010 Gulf Coast Football Association |

| In the United States alone, there are more than six hundred teams throughout over fifty leagues that refer to themselves as semi-professional or minor league football teams. Player experience varies between high school, college, and professional players. Because the majority of these players are not paid for their time on the field, they show up at practice and on game day simply for the love of the game. Not only are they not paid, but they are often required to pay for their own equipment, transportation, and lodging. A lucky few will get the opportunity to shine in front of scouts and be selected to move up to the (paid) professional ranks. It is the intent of the Gulf Coast Football Association (GCFA) to provide opportunity and challenge to semi-professional football teams to take a giant step forward and adjust their team and player attitudes to reflect the professional attitude that the GCFA represents. This is a minor league developmental system that provides players the opportunity to improve and advance their skills to the level required by the NFL, Canadian Football, NFL Europe, Arena Football, Arena Football 2, Indoor Professional Football, and college teams. It is the goal of this association to keep the spirit of football alive in the hearts, minds, and souls of the athletes who desire to make it to the next level. The GCFA name is the result of an agreement between various team owners to form this association. The "Gulf Coast" portion of the new name is intended to allow any team that plays in any state or country touched by the waters of the great Gulf of Mexico to participate after applying for membership. Teams competing in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and Mexico will have the first opportunity to join the GCFA. Restrictions to this membership require that a team has been in existence for at least one year and must not have forfeited any games during that time. The GCFA is not about the quantity of teams in the league, but rather the quality of the teams on the field. It seeks teams that are sensible and reliable from a business perspective and the GCFA will be very selective in whom it chooses to be league member teams. |
Thank you to everyone who came out to support the GCFA in our 1st Annual Kickoff Classic. We appreciate all teams that participated and to all the fans that came out to help us celebrate. The GCFA does not condone and/or encourage misbehavior on or off the field. Our apologies go out to all friends, family and sponsors. We Thank you, for your continued support. GCFA, Commissioner Lyles |
